I'm not a DJ. I work in IT.

I've never played for a crowd. In fact, I don't think anyone has ever danced to one of my mixes. They were made for one listener only: me.

Over 20 years ago I lived with a guy who mixed like an absolute beast but never cared about making a name for himself. I couldn't beatmatch two records to save my life, but surrounded by turntables, vinyl and people who treated music as freedom—not a career—I learned something more valuable than technique: attitude. I watched them make two records disappear and create a third.

Fifteen years later I bought a controller, just for fun. It's still my favorite game. I mix what I want to hear, not what the crowd, the algorithm or the likes want.

Expect risks, mistakes and questionable decisions. It might be brilliant. It might be a mess. It probably won't be boring.
