It was early in Early 1982 when Robe A.K.A Dj Black Apache began showing interest in music, listening to all genres (Latin, Pop, Reggae and Jazz) and the Dj's at the local radio stations sparked the fire. In 1986 he was recruited by Dr. Elliott a well-known and popular DJ in the city, who recognized El Fantasma's talent for such rudimentary equipment. El Fantasma started playing for a more mature crowd traveling to many parts of the city with Dr. Elliott and the SSS sound system. Migrating to the United States later in 1989 he teamed up with Bass Odyssey Sound System in Brooklyn New York. His style of mixing was something new and untouched by the North American market. It was then when he opened a show for the Jamaican Artist Super Cat, who was the leader of the Wild Apache Crew,El Fantasma being the darkest skinned of them was baptized The Black Apache. That's there the Maddness started.
