Another one of my early mixes--from all the way back in 2004. But much of what is included here are songs and genres that really take me back a couple of years earlier. I only started listening to a lot of electronic and trip-hop stuff when I lived in Seattle (2002-2003). It was around that time that I first discovered Jazzanova, St. Germain, and the OM Lounge collections, as well as the amazing tango composer, Astor Piazzolla (thank you Limewire!). Although for obvious reasons Piazzolla is not in this mix, the opening track from Bajofondo Tango Club is a nice fusion of the two genres.
The hip-hop tracks, from OutKast and Guru and RJD2, remind me more of Chicago, which is where I was living again in 2004. So for me, this mix is sort of a trip across the country in my early 20s. From Queen Anne in Seattle to Little Italy in Chicago. Both great neighborhoods, deserving of great tunes!
