Demir Cesar is a German DJ, event curator, and operator of Cumberlandsche, a bar and club housed in the Cumberlandsche Galerie in Hanover. Under his alias “DiscoDemir,” he curates club nights and hosts a monthly radio show on Leibniz.fm. Active since the late 1990s, Cesar is a fixture of Hanover’s music scene, known for genre‑spanning sets and mixes.
Since 2019, he has operated the Cumberlandsche and oversees its music program. Alongside his club work, Cesar joined the influential hip‑hop radio show “Da Flava” on Radio Flora in 1999 and, together with music journalist Falk Schacht, co‑produced the program into the early 2000s. In Hanover’s rap community he collaborated with Phillie MC (Oliver Sauerland), contributing turntable cuts to the major‑label debut Schöne neue Welt (Def Jam Germany, 2001) and supporting the artist during the period that yielded the single “Unkraut.”
