Well I'll admit, Steve, its not what I'd normally listen to, but I'm glad I did. I love that you go to places other DJ's wouldnt even consider touching and for that reason, I'll always listen to a Steve James mix. You educate as well as entertain, and I love that about your creative output, always different but never boring. I really am enjoying it and cheers for the effort gone into the production of same.

My taste in music is very wide ranging, so I guess that takes me to places where a lot of other DJ's don't dare to go, but regardless, I will continue bringing a multitude of different sounds, because it's a true reflection of my musical being ... If I stop being myself and just do hundreds of house mixes like everyone else, then I would feel like I'm not being true to myself ... Each to their own, but following the herd is not my style ... Never has been, never will be ... I love house music and will never stop mixing it, but I love many other genres just as much, so I will continue to give those other genres airplay on my channel!! ... These sets do take quite a lot of work to put together, and I have to be in the right frame of mind to record a set like this ... It just so happens I was in the mood for an ethereal and transportive selection after a week of back-to-back DJ gigs and an overindulgence of birthday shenanigans. Immediately thought to circle back on this one after my earlier show support, and a cursory Listen. I can almost feel the stress melting away, peeled off and discarded like layers of an onion, how fun! A journey into higher and higher vibrations. Will go ahead and keep this playing while I start my bedtime routine. ❤️👊
Thank you Mr James!! ... High praise indeed!! ... As you know, I'm attracted to all kinds of different sounds, and my sets on Mixcloud are just a small taste of some of the music I enjoy ... I enjoy mixing deep and soulful house, but I do like to go off the beaten path and deviate into other genres, regardless of how popular they may or may not be ... I guess I'm just obsessed with music!! Haha ... There are only a handful of genres that I struggle to tolerate ... and I guess those would be heavy metal, country & western, opera, and modern "drill" and "mumble rap" ... I like pretty much everything else ... House, garage, hip hop, soul, funk, jazz, disco, r&b, reggae, latin, drum & bass, trance, techno, breakbeat, chillout, amapiano, world music etc etc ... It's all good!! ... I'm glad to hear this journey provided you with some much needed stress relief after a hectic week ... and I'm hoping your birthday hangover has already passed!! ... Oh crap, saw the Reply and I did not mean to leave you hanging! Just got really caught up and all. Yeah man you're the purveyor of all the genres that are fit to print as far as I'm concerned. The ones you struggle with so do I ... though I'd have to add Industrial and Hard Techno to that Listen, haha. Yeah bro birthday 'hangover' took about a week to get through as I was drinking straight through my dj schedule, lol. It's normally hard to decline shots and stuff but especially hard with staff and management. Hope you're doing alright there, sending lots of love your way. ❤️👊
Lol glad you recovered ... It sounds like industrial techno may well give you a similar hangover too ... Haha ... I don't mind the odd techno set now and then, but generally I prefer the deeper side of techno, which has some similarities with deep house ... I don't like it to be "boom boom" and 160 BPM for the sake of it ... It has to have some feeling to it ... Oh and we cannot forget to put Vina house on the list!! 🤣 ... I have no idea what all that bizarre Vietnamese rave music is all about, but it's certainly not for me ... So I guess we won't be hearing any thrash metal sets from you in the near future then ... I can live with that!!!! 😂
