Kathleen Annie Pannonica Rothschild de Koenigswarter, better known as the Jazz Baroness. Much gossiped about, especially after Charlie Parker died while staying with her at The Stanhope, Nica was beloved by musicians on the New York Scene, especially Thelonious Monk (who wrote “Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues Are” in tribute to the Bolivar Hotel, where she lived after she was thrown out of The Stanhope).
