I grew up in West-Germany. As a young teenager, I got invited to almost all the private party, because I had a wide collection of pop music I had accumulated over years. While my teenage buddies were listening to late 70s Pop and Rock, mainly mainstream music, I was developing step by step into a soul-discomusic lover. Compared to my German friends, I was really different because I was the only DJ at private partys who presented 7“ inch records, for example by Kool & The Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Funkadelic, The Whispers, Sister Sledge, Chic, Crown Heights Affair etc. So, Soul-Funk music turned out to be “my thang.”

In 1979 at the age of 15, I started my official dj career. Winning a DJ contest early on gave me the platform to show my talent and present great soulful-funky-music.

In 1981, I earned my first major job as a resident DJ at a very special German Soul & Funk-Club “The Soul Center” in Mönchengladbach, Germany. This Club has been haunted by mainly African-American US soldie
