DJ l'onyx has always been a passionate of music and dance. She was formally introduced to music at the age of 6 when she started taking piano lesson and learning about music theory. She also took jazz, ballet and hip hop classes throughout her childhood. In 2013, she discovered kizomba and immediately fell in love with the music and dance. Her passion for kizomba got her to learn the dance, the music as well as the culture. She is heavily involved in the Toronto Kizomba scene, organizing nights such as Descontra Wednesdays and Toque as well as festivals in Toronto, including So Kizomba Festival 2017 and Toque Toronto Kizomba Festival. As a DJ, she has been part of the major and popular kizomba events in Toronto, including including Mas Thursdays, Flavour Fridays, Kizomba no Domingo and her own event Descontra Wednesdays. She is the first female international DJ from Canada having played at small events and large congresses in cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Washington DC.
