Lucien Samaha aka MondoLucien

New York City, United States

Began my DJ career in 1988 at WITR, my college radio station, initially with one show which I took over from a friend. The show was called the China Shop, featuring not only avant-garde and experimental music, but often using the tools at the station, i.e. the turntables and/or the channels to create soundscapes. I also had two Jazz shows, a Sunday Brunch jazz classics, and a more contemporary new releases and fusion jazz. I became the station General Manager one year later, for two years.

In the 1990s I began the "Lounge Movement" in New York City, and had several DJ gigs in various bars and venues mostly around the Village, East and West. Eventually I was invited to produce and DJ a party on the 107th Floor of the World Trade Center, from 1997 to that fateful day on September 11. I did record some of those live sessions. I have also been digitizing my Radio Airchecks from the late 1980s as well as a significant amount of my own homemade mixtapes of very eclectic themes.
