DJ-NSPIRE-ME (Michael Donley) was born in 1967 on Chicago's south side, in the Bronzeville Neighborhood. For over four decades, since the age of thirteen, DJ-NSPIRE-ME has been mixing, remixing, and DJing.
He became interested and inspired to mix dance music after one of his childhood peers created a remix of Yello's classic Bostich and Martin Circus Disco Circus using a home stereo system.
“ The late seventies into the mid-eighties in Chicago were incredible times of musical discovery. Utilizing whatever tools we had available to create mixes, using compact stereo systems - boom box radios, cassette decks, and reel-to-reel tapes, and of course, turntables.
“I knew early on that DJ mixing and the Chicago style of mixing dance music would become a worldwide phenomenon.”
