DJ Electric Friend

DJ Electric Friend had his first DJ gig when he was eleven and won a competition to host a show on a new radio station in his home town in New Zealand. The year was 1979. On that occasion he borrowed his friend's records and he's not ashamed to say his set that day included Boney M, Grease and Abba - hey it was 1979 and he was 11.

Since then he has appeared on various student radio and community based stations, set up his own record label and recording studio, toured New Zealand and Europe and performed at many festivals and parties under various DJ guises.

With DJ Electric Friend, he returns to his roots - 80's music. Having spent his teens in the 80s, these songs are the soundtrack to his teenage years, his student days, first loves, parties and travels.

Now resident in Berlin, DJ Electric Friend looks forward to sharing his favourite tracks from the 80's here on Mixcloud or at a party or club near you.
