DJTen Grand notes his growing up in a musical household played a part in his love of music. His mother singing in church, in an R & B Band and playing the piano. Step father playing the guitar, ONE of the best guitarist in Southwest Virginia. Uncles that DJ’ed as a profession. A sister that plays piano and while growing up was able to wield two sounds with the use of vinyl, a mixer and the use of the crossfader, into an art form. Unable to read music, Ten Grand was able to mimic the musicians within the band, playing guitar, bass, timbales, drums etc. Creative in his own right; however he was more interested in the manipulation of sound with vinyl and an assortment of DJ equipment. With More Bounce To The Ounce Playing (Zapp) Ten Grand was allowed to express himself through sound and the use of his uncles equipment. The result or outcome of this manipulation…..4th of July weekend, 1984….a DJ is Born.
