DJ SiR CharLZ started DJing in 1987 with two belt drive turntables, only one of which that had a pitch control. Charlz had a love of music from an extremely young age and was always drawn to dance music, hip-hop and new wave/industrial. His first DJ gig was at The Café, a club where Moby was DJing at the time in Greenwich, CT. Playing mostly New Wave and Industrial, the club morphed into Techno in 1990-1991. Charlz started exploring the NY rave scene, attending many hardcore parties thrown by Frankie Bones and the LimeLight (with an eventual residency). Charlz transitioned from playing local clubs in NY and CT to playing his first larger underground event thrown by Mike Balu, in Woonsocket R.I. – “Evolution Phactory”. This was the start of DJing at large raves in New England. Charlz has played every type of venue and crowd.
