A little history about my interest in DJing - I fell in love with electronic music late in high school (I was mostly a metal/grunge/industrial head with an eclectic taste for film scores at the time). A couple of years into adulthood I discovered the rave scene right as it was hitting its "golden age". There are few experiences as profound as being in a crowd of 20,000+ all on the same wavelength, and realizing that one person is steering the ship - the DJ. I knew this was something I wanted to do eventually. When I was old enough to drink I realized that the same talent I was going to raves to see were showing up at the clubs - a much more intimate setting with a more mature crowd. This became my weekly ritual for musical inspiration, and so began my journey into making mixes for myself. I have recently returned from a somewhat self-imposed hiatus, and am hungry to play again!
