Optimus (Neels Smeekens, Rotterdam) is active as a DJ/producer since halfway the nineties. Besides scratching and rockin’ parties, Optimus produces music and gives scratchworkshops for the HipHopHuis. Him and Ill Pro are Hip Hop-formation Ill Productionz. Also, Optimus DJ’s for different groups like iET and The Proov. Optimus composed, performed and/or played together with Grazzhoppa, Toots Thielemans, Eric Vloeimans and Aka Moon among others. Recently, he released the EP ‘Used Future’ with DJ Mace as dynamic duo OptiMace.
DJ Optimus released his debut album ‘Double Helix DNA’ on June 20th 2011 through Dutch recordlabel Fremdtunes.
