Mike Stanton has never been particularly interested in where one genre ends and another begins. For him, trance has always been about where the music takes you.
His sound was forged in Arizona’s underground rave scene, where he became known for a harder, darker approach to trance. Behind the decks, Stanton draws freely from hard house and techno for his trance sets, bringing deep bouncing rhythms, 303s, and metallic textures.
A longtime resident at Noise in Scottsdale and a regular fixture at Club Freedom in Tempe and DV8 in Tucson, Stanton spent years playing clubs, warehouses and desert raves throughout the Southwest.
A Mike Stanton set can move from the rumble of hard house into driving techno, disappear into an acid line and emerge somewhere unmistakably trance, without losing the thread that connects it all.
Now based in Washington, DC, Stanton hosts TranceAtlantic, bringing together the harder edges of trance.
