Hull, United Kingdom

DJ Poison developed his craft in the mid-1990s, pushing jungle when it was virtually unheard of in his hometown of Kingston-upon-Hull. He played at Hardcore or Hip-Hop nights, ran a weekly show on pirate radio station Twilight FM, and promoted his own night ‘Jungle Method’.

Over the 30+ years of his career, Poison has performed on line-ups with - and warmed up for - many of the drum & bass scene’s leading artists, such as Mickey Finn, Randall, Jumpin’ Jack Frost, General Levy, Marky and Calibre. He remains resident DJ for Shinobi and The Residents Association, and runs the DJ Methodz mixing tuition service.

Poison’s musical influences include Latin-American music and Flamenco; Jazz, Blues & Soul, original House & Techno, old skool Hip-Hop; and early Hardcore & Breakbeat. DJ’ing influences range from the likes of DJ Sasha, Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier to Randall, LTJ Bukem and Dr S Gachet.
