Com Mais de 30

When I first heard Com Mais de 30 by Claudia, I think I almost cried. I didn't understand a single word of it, but the urgency of the arrangement and her voice connected with me in a way that I couldn't explain.

The first time I cried uncontrollably from a song was when I heard "Nemurenai-Insomnie" by United Future Organization. A largely instrumental track, the chords were so beautiful, it shook me to my core.

A similar thing happened to me when I heard Tokyo, Mon Amour by Pizzicato Five, but this time the lyrics spoke to me, just as much as the arrangement. It reminded me of the longing I've carried with me my whole life for a place to call home.

I'm 30 today, and feeling contemplative, so I chose 30 songs that are dear to me. I wanted to mark this moment through music & I hope it connects with you in a special way, too.

Oh, and "Com Mais de 30" is a veiled critique of authority, but directly translates to "don't trust anyone over 30." Hope to prove 'em wrong on that one.
