I'm fairly new to this whole DJ thing, as I am an operatic tenor by trade, a teacher to pay the bills, a recreational writer, and a Dance Dance Revolution enthusiast when procrastinating on all of the above.
I draw my inspiration from figures who shaped the scene (ie: Kid Koala, The Avalanches, DJ Shadow, Lemon Jelly, Madlib, and J Dila) who changed the role of what a DJ "should" be with their eclectic musical tastes, heightened harmonic/melodic sensibilities, and ability to create a visible landscape through the arrangement of colourful sounds.
I am nowhere near the talent of the greats I mentioned above. There are very few ways one can distinguish himself with nothing more than a pair of Bose headphones, a laptop made in 2006, and a definitely not pirated copy of Mixmeister, but nonetheless, I'm here to try. Enjoy!
