I've been looking forward to presenting this megamix. Thirteen tracks, from the techno/rave era of the early to mid-1990s. This mix was performed using strictly vinyl. All of the tracks are RARE DJ-only remixes from my personal DJ arsenal.
The title of the mix comes from the fact that I know a lot of these songs won't technically qualify as "techno" to the genre purists out there. Some, I'm sure, would qualify as old-school rave, or electro, or possibly even breakbeat. However, in Oklahoma in the 1990s, we didn't break down the subgenres too much. Most of those who went to the clubs such as Ikon back in the day would have defined the tracks as "techno." We loved the music, and we called it techno. :)
Hopefully you'll enjoy listening to this mix as much as I enjoyed putting it together. I included some major classics as well as a few obscure favourites. (If you've never heard "Kiss the Manic," you're in for a treat.)

Thank you so much for all of the kind words! :) I'm so glad that you enjoyed the mix. I should have volume 6 (!!!) of "We Called It Techno" up this weekend!

I was on that Ikon dancefloor :)
Wonderful! I miss Ikon, and when I put together my techno mixes, I often include at least some tracks that I heard there back in the day. Hope to see you at An Old School Techno Night on March 28th!
I dig it!

Hi Dj Badger, we called it techno #1 is offline, no?
Hi, Gary! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I don't know what happened; I certainly didn't ask to have it brought offline at any time. However, I just started playing it and it worked fine. Please try it again and let me know if there are any further issues. Thank you again!
This is my favorite mix of yours so far. Some great remixes.
Thank you, Scott! :) I appreciate it greatly!
Wow... That copy of "Blue" sounds a little "crunchier" than I thought. Whoops! :)
