[The title of the "We Called It Techno" series comes from the fact that I know a lot of these songs won't technically qualify as "techno" to the genre purists out there. Some, I'm sure, would qualify as old-school rave, or electro, or possibly even breakbeat. However, in Oklahoma in the 1990s, we didn't break down the subgenres too much. Most of those who went to the clubs such as Ikon back in the day would have defined the tracks as "techno." We loved the music, and we called it techno. :) ]
