Congo Bassie Sound is a DJ collective and all about conscious reggae music. They play with vinyl records only, combined with live vocal, dubsiren and instrumental improvisation. CBS delivers an energetic, uplifting live-experience. Strictly vinyl, strictly positive reggae music!

It started in 2017, when Coen van Dijk (aka Congo Bassie) teamed up with Tom de Vreugd (aka brother B). B already had the necessary vinyl collection and Congo Bassie the mixing skills. After a short while trumpetist Sjoerd Jonkers joined in. He brought a whole heap of energy and musical improvisation. This marked the beginning of a serious, conscious reggae-sound. Over time Congo Bassie Sound grew as a collective. They played various gigs at festivals (oa PaasPop, FestyLand, Nijmeegse Vierdaagsefeesten) and different clubs. Their ambition and experience grew. CBS also started to focus on a unique sound, mixing style, mc-ing and playing the hottest dubs and steppers.
