The Catholic Radio Network (CRN) is a media project constituted by community-based radio stations broadcasting in Frequency Modulation from Juba, Yei, Torit, Yambio, Rumbek, Tonj, Wau, and Malakal and the Nuba Mountains.
Since its beginning, CRN has extensively educated the public, especially the illiterates, on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, the democratic process, the Sudan Elections 2010 and the Southern Sudan Referendum 2011. From July 9 2011 CRN is promoting nation building and the rule of law.
For its outreach, CRN has a potential audience of about seven million people, considering the influx of returnees to South Sudan after the Sudan Population Census 2008.
Since 2009 CRN News Desk has provided daily reliable local and regional information for the stations, which have been and are a forum for people to express their views.
Since October 2012 CRN has aired programs on the Transitional Constitution 2011 and its review.
