Tom Dent is a composer, producer, DJ, educator and innovator. With a Masters in music composition, he has delved into the forms, techniques, complex sound worlds of contemporary classical music, composing story-led music from solo instrumental works to opera and award-winning orchestral pieces. In 2014, he became an Editor at @Faber Music, where he edited and critiqued the most ambitious scores by some of the world’s best contemporary composers.
His passion for education and love for electronic music brought him to the start-up @FutureDJs where he spent the last 2 years enabling the introduction of DJ-ing into primary and secondary music education in the UK. Tom co-authored the Faber-published book “FutureDJs: How to DJ”, and pioneered the first ever graded DJ exams accredited by @LCME due for release this year.
With his moniker CHCKRS, he explores the techno-sphere, his musical home, from thundering syncopated grooves to eerie harmonic atmospheres.
