I have had many names over the years but one thing has been constant, a deep passion for funky dance house music. Originally started playing in San Francisco and Oakland CA in 2009. Took a hiatus but now I'm back. As for the name — Boogie Tax is simple. Stand near good music long enough and it's gonna cost you something. Usually your dignity, sometimes your drink, always a little dancing.

My sets live somewhere between head nodding and moving your feet. Heavy on funk, soul, jazz, and hip-hop — with plenty of horns, piano, and B-sides you probably haven't heard. I can dial it back to a slow jazzy groove for the right room or push it toward the dance floor when the energy calls for it.

Funk is universal. It works in bars, breweries, lounges, wherever. And I truly believe you cannot be in a bad mood when the funk is playing, it makes people smile and groove.
