This mix is mostly made up of music from the 50's and early 60's, as compositions started being made that were almost completely electronic. Though it was possible to purchase the Theremin, Clavioline and other electronic equipment, the mass market Synthesiser was yet to appear, and many of the devices on this mix were made by the composers themselves. As well as serious classical works, included are some adverts and film music. These proved the perfect vehicle to introduce the new sounds to a wider audience. Like Stockhausen, the artists on this mix were all electronic explorers.
