Barry de Foyle

United Kingdom

Barry de Foyle first broadcast live to the world from his native Northern Ireland as a teenager on Gloria Hunniford’s show on BBC Radio Ulster, reading requests on air and shaking hands with Dana. In spite of this, he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

As a freelance music consultant, Barry has provided 36 hours’ worth of world/classical playlists for a prestigious Dubai hotel and ambient music for a local art exhibition in 2015. His main loves are 70s progressive rock, jazz (especially 50s/60s hard bop), folk/world music and classical (from early music to weird modern stuff), from across the world.

Barry also plays, contributing to two tribute albums (to Roxy Music in 2009 and Squeeze in 2011); one of his fondest memories is of an evening spent drumming in a jazz/blues club in Ginza, Tokyo. But he is happiest sharing the music he loves with anyone who cares to listen.
