The Avenue DJ Workshops are unique mentorship-driven, relationship-based, learning
modules designed to develop and share the knowledge and skills of Rhode Island-based and visiting DJs with youth and adults in Rhode Island.

While many young people are eager to learn how to DJ, and discover how DJs became important musical innovators in the 21st century, there are few formal institutions that provide the instruments and spaces necessary to foster teaching and learning around this historically undervalued musical tradition. The Avenue DJ Workshops will both meet national needs for developing sustainable systems and promising practices around teaching and learning of DJ musicianship, and local informal arts-based educational needs in Rhode Island.
