I began in the early 90s for the love of a new type of music that was filtering out of America & Europe which bought with it a new culture. Unprofessional nightclub & rave promotors in Melbourne at the time deterred me from continuing to follow my passion. Eventually turned me off the whole scene together. I took a 12 year absence from the scene but closely observed the whole industry mature. Only recently with the introduction of the digital era have again embraced the passion again realizing the endless possibilities for the Dj. As a solo artist with increasingly powerful software & hardware has allowed the Dj to not only play just music but to also be able to put his or hers special spin on music. i.e. live remixing. Today technical ability & track selection still account for a great deal but have taken a back seat as track manipulation has become quite a significant part to the Dj's performance bluring the lines between Dj and producer.
