Born in 1953 as Hobart Taylor III, Boylston's earliest memories include being tucked into bed by Soupy Sales and seeing Nina Simone at the Detroit Jazz Festival.

He has been a newspaper reporter, radio host, teacher, bookstore manager, artist's manager, and closet poet for 71 years.

Honored to be married to a distinguished scholar, and the child of citizen warriors from the 60's, he has attempted to be a medium for change, compassion , and connection between disparate cultures. Oh, and he has disdain for those who refer to themselves in the third person.
