Alanapana is a Vermont native who began exploring DJing after relocating to Washington, D.C., where she quickly connected with the city’s vibrant music scene. Growing up surrounded by audio equipment — thanks to her dad, who ran his own mastering studio and repairs shop out of their house for 42 years — she developed a deep appreciation for sound from an early age. Alanapana weaves a variety of styles into her sets, drawing inspiration from deep house, jazz, minimal, and the golden era of '90s rap and hip-hop.
