Born in London but raised in the quiet countryside around Northamptonshire, AFUNK's interest in music started from the early age of 12 when he found a collection a of heavily worn Soul records in his brother's bedroom. As he grew older, so did his interest in music, as he tagged along behind his older brother to visit many live concerts of some of the great music legends such as Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, The BlackByrds and many more.
The multitude of sounds conveyed by these artists inspired in him a curiosity to explore these Music styles with particular attention towards, Jazz Funk, Soul, House and later on Jazzy House music, as it was an extension of the Jazz Funk scene.
AFUNK then decided to try his hand at mixing, and like many of his DJ friends, he would compile countless mix tapes and hand them out to friends until eventually he was asked to play at some local venues. AFUNK is still in love with the Soulful Jazzy Funk and the vocal side of House Music today.
