Certainly you are the wisdom, the truth; you are goodness, happiness, eternity; you are all that constitutes true good. All these things are numerous, my narrow and captive intelligence cannot see so many objects at once, and enjoy them all at the same time. How then, Lord, are you all this? Are they your various parts, or is not each of them your whole essence? Because everything that is made up of parts is not truly one; it can be disunited both in fact and by thought, conditions foreign to your nature, above which nothing can be conceived. So there are no parts in you, Lord! You are not multiple; but you are so one and so completely like yourself that you do not differ in any way from your own nature. Even more, you are the true and absolute unity, indivisible even by thought. So therefore, life, wisdom, and all the other virtues that we have enumerated, are not parts of your being, but all together are one, and each is, whole, and your essence and the essence of others.
