This week's Third Place commemorates the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with Dr. Katie Cherry, professor of psychology at Louisiana State University. Katie spoke in Baton Rouge this past week on the lasting effects of the hurricane and rebuilding process for people's mental health in coastal parishes. Dr. Cherry's research interests include healthy aging and she was a principal investigator of LSU's post-Katrina resilience and recovery study. She and host David Brown speak about how people experience disasters and recovery differently based on their age, life experience, spirituality, and other factors, as well as the 'myth of closure' from past traumas.
