Well, what a journey it’s been! I’ve always loved music—starting with piano and guitar as a kid, listening on my Walkman and record player (yes, really). My first love was ABBA, before moving into Guns N’ Roses and rock, then reggae, hip hop in the 90s, and eventually drum & bass. By 15 I was MCing at parties, even gate-crashing a rave in Italy at 18 and performing to thousands—who thankfully loved it.

I got into club nights young, sneaking in thanks to my height, and discovered house music. I also began promoting events and carried that passion into university, where music—not academia—became my path.

After breaking into my first festival in 2003, I worked across events, eventually helping launch Wonderfruit in Thailand. Though I played major festivals, I stayed underground, later creating the “Mediocre DJ” persona.

Now, at 47, after 30+ years in music—I am Yialli. Enjoy the journey.
