I have had the pleasure of listening to a few of Yahru El Guru’s mixes, and each has left me with something different musically. His latest score, “Meditation,” is no different. This mix was something special for me; the sound was built on colorful chords, sturdy drums, and somewhat spacey vocals. It’s different but in a good way. I love how Yahru El Guru toys with Chi Thanh’s “Stone,” as an opening to this already well thought out project. It’s a deep house feel mixed with techno, but what makes this project unique is Yahru El Guru does a great job of blending but not beating, mixing but not over saturating. He takes beautifully simple grooves with smooth vocals mixes some amazing break beats and still somehow gives the vocals room to breathe. Midway through this “Meditation,” there’s some great loose percussion, minor arpeggios, and sparse drum workouts which produce something somewhat animated yet hypnotic....
