After every Golden Age, there is a decline. As the 1980s closed, PWL artists were at a crossroads. The bubblegum pop sounds fell away from popularity and harder dance music began to rule the airwaves. To keep up with the changing times, Stock/Aitken/Waterman pivoted to a more American club-influenced sound rather than their traditional brand of European Hi-NRG dance music. Kylie Minogue led the charge, as her more club-influenced 3rd album, Rhythm of Love, had many successful single releases. However, we begin to see the decline of the PWL music empire, as their other artists struggled to make the Top 10, or even the Top 40. Other artists still stood out with the likes of Lonnie Gordon, Jason Donovan, and Sonia.
Hope you enjoy!
