Third collection of rock, soul and pop from 1950s and 1960s. KFWB, Color 98, has decided to DX through space and time with music from 1951 to 1969, with songs that were hits in the US, UK and Japan. A lot of instrumentals are mixed in. A couple notes:
"Does Your Mama Know About Me" by Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers was one of the first Canadian acts signed to Motown. The song is also notable as being co-written by Tommy Chong (yes, that one) who was the drummer for the band.
"Yakety Axe" by Chet Atkins has a roundabout life. Based off the bridge of The Coasters' "Yakety Yak", Atkins produced Boots Randolph's "Yakety Sax" in 1960, but the song flopped. So Atkins recorded his own version in 1961. It wasn't until 1964 that "Yakety Sax" became a hit (and a staple of Benny Hill gags).
