Probably my favourite of the pick and mix sweets (I guess Penny Sweets to those across the pond?) would have to be bubble bottles. The bubble gum variant of fizzy cola bottles. Which apparently were invented in the '30s by a German company called Klene. However I can't seem to find at what point the bubble gum variety were introduced.
