Safe is what you are, how you are, naturally. Trusting yourself and, by extension, the world, is your birthright. If this inherent sense of safety has been lost, or has become inaccessible for you, then it has likely been taken away by circumstances beyond your control. You may have learned to live in an adrenalized fear-state, always ready to respond to the next threat. (Sometimes this goes by the name anxiety.) Or at some point you may have been tricked into believing that letting your guard down always results in you getting hurt. But the good news is, these things aren't true, and it doesn't have to be this way. You can heal from your hurts; you can let them go. You can recover your natural sense of safety. It hasn't gone anywhere; it is simply there waiting for you to reclaim it. Start by noticing that you ARE safe, right now, in this moment, even if you don't FEEL safe. Explore the feelings of fear in your body...move into them; dance around, over, through them...
