Working Title

Working Title is an audio piece created by Turbynes as a response to a heritage-inspired micro-commission from Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water.

Turbynes spoke to people from Sowerby Bridge about work: their dream jobs, worst ever jobs, and what they wanted to be when they grew up. This dreamy piece reflects on the hopes, memories and working cultures of the town. The work was shared as a looping sound installation at GLOW Festival, 17th - 18th February 2024.

Originally commissioned by Sowerby Bridge Fire and Water as part of the Heritage High Street Action Zone Cultural Programme funded by Historic England and Arts Council England.

Featuring voices from Sowerby Bridge and excerpts from an article by Anne Quito for Quartz - breaking down the theories contained within 'Why We Work' by Barry Schwartz.
