HEARTH is an original sound piece written by Rosie Freeman and put together by MARF during the artist’s residency at Bradford City Hall during the spring and summer of 2022.
Using field recordings, interviews and creative writing to explore the building’s complex heritages - the piece draws on City Hall's environmental legacy, its civic purpose, its democratic ideals, and its place in the public imagination.
Initially shared at Bradford City Hall in July 2022 as a one-off listening event, and consequently recommissioned at LIT Festival for a series of on-site sharings using headphones for a more intimate experience in November 2023.
Originally commissioned by Bradford Council and funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
