After playing regular six hour sets at Steamworks for over a year, I'm starting to drop into a consistent flow. My sound is becoming more bassy and smooth and I've really gotten into new elements like chants, Afro vocals and acoustic instruments. As I focus on creating an arc for a set, or for the entire night over the course of 6 hours, I aim to tell an emotional story, layering tracks into each other as it builds and culminates.
Although the bathhouse has shaped my sound, I'd like to rebrand myself as separate from it. Root Medicine describes the transformation I'm undergoing by refining my craft in this context. I've been able to make a living off my art, supporting and providing for myself with this music. I've come to root myself into my life, my creativity, and my sexuality through this process. I've fallen in love with music as medicine... my healer... my heart... my love. May it bless you the way it does me.
