I have had the distinct pleasure of broadcasting this show for 15 years on one of the oldest College Radio stations in the US. Wooster's public radio station, WCWS 90.9 FM started broadcasting in 1927, over 90 years ago. Today's show is influenced by many events. Off the East Coast of the US, hurricane Florence is approaching. Hence, we remain within the acoustic realm "preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best". In addition to the impending storm, this was a week of protest of decisions taken locally. We feature songs by Blick Bassy, a Cameroonian singer-songwriter, Robert Johnson, and Fatoumata Diawara. Lalah Hathaway gives us a Sade throwback. We debut two French artists: Achille and Hollydays. August Greene gives us a reworked gospel tune originally recorded by the Sounds of Blackness. About a year ago, Diamond Platinumz released "Acha Nikae Kimya". The song broke the silence on the deteriorating political situation. He ends by a call for unity.
