This mix highlights some music that reflects “Work”. Some tunes highlight the songs of slaves, other reflect, as Roland Kirk put’s it “Volunteered Slavery”. Hopefully it will make you think about the plight of others. Let’s not forget that modern slavery exists in the present day. Despite being illegal in every nation, estimates of the number of slaves today range from around 21 million to 29 million.

Wow, this tune really evokes the slavery-era "Negro spirituals" that later evolved into blues and jazz. Thank God we're no longer living in that era.
Oh yes! Unfortunately, this is a terrible reality.
I've to admit you that at first is your cover attracted me, because this picture served me for my work. Brilliant mix, subtle transitions and once again I discovered tracks. Bravo and thank you.

Thanks Marie-Lou. Jaimeo Brown Transcendence used the picture for their album cover, I didn't realise when I did my cover. I just made it a bit more sepia. I'd love to see your version, did you colourise it?
Ah, great concept. Reminds me of the sets we used to run in the 'old' late-1960s progressive radio days. Well done!
Thanks DR J - I guess it must be my age!
Yeah ... The human element did not detract form the superior quality and serious effort of this project - A well painted portrait on the Topic of Slavery - The practice of Slavery that we know of today actually started in the North eastern europe near Caucasus region and It was some time later in history (1500's) that the Black Atlantic slavery trade flourished ; GREAT MIX and music Buddy
Greetings my friend, always good to have your incisive comment. It’s good to make people think about where the music emanates from and some of the injustices that still stain our world.
Apologies for the glitches on the Davy Graham track. Not sure how that happened!!
Very subtle glitch :-) no issues, Tony. This is a fantastic set.
