This mix comprises of music composed by or inspired by the French composer Eric Satie. Satie was a major and somewhat controversial figure in the early 20th century Parisian avant-garde. His work was a precursor to later artistic movements such as Dada, minimalism, repetitive music, and the Theatre of the Absurd. Nowadays he has been very much absorbed into the mainstream, his music often featuring in adverts and television dramas. For someone living in the 21st century, it is impossible to appreciate just how startling his music was to the French bourgeoisie of the late 19th century. The contrast between the abstract nature of some of his pieces and the sheer beauty of others has endeared him to both the jazz and classical fraternities. As Satie said: "The musician is perhaps the most modest of animals, but he is also the proudest. It is he who invented the sublime art of ruining poetry."

Tracklist

Playing tracks by Jacques Burtin / Michel Michalakakos, Terje Gewelt, Dan Willis, Afrodisian Orchestra, Plaid and more.
