It’s fifty years since the “Summer of Love” 1967 and the turbulent times that came together in a rush of sex, drugs and rock n roll. Jazz musicians had always experimented with drugs and the late sixties with the prevalence of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide was fertile ground for experimentation. This was reflected in the music. That’s not to say that all this music was drug inspired, but drugs led to interest in other cultures and religions that were equally inspirational. Minds were altered and for a short period the love generation reigned supreme. This eventually soured, but the music of that period still remains and is an influence on today’s musicians.
