This mix highlight the keyboard genius known as Herbert Jeffrey Hancock. Born in Chicago on April 12, 1940 Herbie Hancock is a master of the piano, electric piano, organ and synthesiser. At the age of eleven Hancock was playing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and became the house pianist at Blue Note records in the early 1960s. Hancock started his performing career with Donald Byrd, then joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where with Miles, Ron Carter, Tony Williams and Wayne Shorter he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. Not only is Hancock a great musician, he is also a great composer, he made an early breakthrough on his first album with the international hit Watermelon Man. In the 1970s, Hancock experimented with jazz fusion, funk, and electro styles with albums such as Crossings and Headhunters. Hancock, now in his eighties, is still performing and teaching.

Fantastic selection Tony !!!
Thanks for your support Max. Appreciate it.
I saw Herbie perform live not so long ago and he was awesome. From pure jazz to electro funk he can do it all. Excellent set mate.
Hi Hugo, hope you are well. Thanks for listening.
Just really a wonderful session, story and flow. I'm a big fan of Herbie's and was lucky enough to finally see him in concert in 2018 and had a fabulous time, just like I did with this mix, so thanks mate!
I have seen most of the jazz greats, but ironically I have never seen Herbie. Thanks for listening mate.
