Coltrane Covered

This September is the 90th anniversary of the birth of John William Coltrane, also known as "Trane" (September 23, 1926 – July 17, 1967) It is impossible to overestimate the influence of Coltrane on jazz. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and was later at the forefront of free and spiritual jazz. Coltrane effected the style and content of many of his peers and equally, modern jazz stylists. This mix aims to highlight cover versions of Coltrane tracks by a wide range of musicians. Enjoy!
