Just my cup of tea, thanks for the tip. As for the purist angle, it´s something that probably always will be held against much of the music I love the most. For me though, you can enjoy for example Donald Byrd´s output from the 60´s as well as his later years. Thanks again!
Don’t take any notice of jazz snobs! Music evolves all the time. I like Donald Byrd’s sixties Blue Note albums, but I also like the funky stuff with the Blackbyrds. Jazz-funk was what got me into be-bop and the roots of jazz.
Nice to hear some of these tracks again. Can't remember the last time I heard Auracle! Morning Dance & Carmel have definitely stood the test of time as memorable tracks. For all the 'jazz snob' downplay of Spyro Gyra, they always did a great show 'live'. BTW, bought the book (got to support the 'troops'!). Cheers, DrJ
Nice to hear from you Dr J. I know a lot of jazz purists probably won't like this mix. But I reckon it pretty much sums up what was happening in the late seventies. And, I have to admit I still like some of this stuff. Can be a bit bland, but sometimes it's good just to unwind to some less challenging music, before I bung on the Ayler! Thanks for buying the book. My wife's bought one, now you, oh! and Mr Lemon Circus. Watch out Dan Brown, I'm gunning for you!

I’m always partial to a Tarte au Citron. Tarts in general really and Tunnock’s teacakes. But the flavour of cirque au citron is a recommended to the discerning listener for its immaculate good taste…….
